WHAT CAN WE LEARN FROM A CHURCH?

Very few churches have embraced the extensive research of the people I have cited on this blog. Most churches represent established religious orders that restrict what they call 'New Age heresies' that they see as a violation of church doctrine. At a time when traditional churches are losing more members permanently than ever before, they seem to avoid innovative teachings out of narrow-minded tradition and also out of the fear that their smaller numbers of members might disappear altogether if they explore and teach states of consciousness that expand awareness and provide healing. Nevertheless, people go to church to learn about the origins, history, and usefulness of our social values (inclusiveness vs. division regarding sexual identity and race/ethnicity) and spiritual practices (prayer, meditation, service, healing). Spiritual pioneers have developed practices from ancient and modern discoveries, providing people with a way to take personal responsibility for their health and happiness through scientifically established means. See the book Becoming Supernatural by Dr. Joe Dispenza for a comprehensive scientifically proven program that enlightens and heals hundreds of members suffering from severe, chronic, and/or life-threatening diseases. Progressive churches support programs like these on a regular basis.

One of the first ‘new age’ churches, Unity church, was started by a Christian woman who healed herself of cancer through affirmative meditation, and with her husband, developed a more ‘new age’ interpretation of the teachings of Jesus. Unity appealed to many who chose to transition from their traditional churches. The Church of Religious Science has Centers for Spiritual Living, a church founded by Ernest Holmes, author and teacher of what he called the Science of Mind, in 1927. This church draws from core mystical teachings about consciousness and its causal influence on the creation of human experience.

Tens of thousands of people have embraced the expanded spiritual skills I’ve discussed. Most of them were churchgoers in their youth and as adults, but became disillusioned by churches and ministers who rarely have a handle on how to practice and teach spiritual skills that acknowledge our God-given 'superpowers' like psychic awareness, healing, multidimensional perception, channeling, mediumship, and most important: direct guidance from our higher power. Churchgoers who have moved on to ;skill-building' state they greatly appreciate churches that have been willing to change with the times, to integrate these truths into our shared spiritual communities.

In closing, I want to thank Dr. Ricki Beyers Beckwith and Dr. Michael Beckwith, who founded the Agape International Spiritual Center in California, 32 years ago with colleagues who embrace the direct experience and expanded skills available in these teachings. Their congregation spans the globe, and live streaming of their services is free from their Facebook page and website. Their congregation is diverse, inclusive, creative and committed to the daily spiritual practices and skill acquisition that rewards them with greatly expanded views of their universe, their powers and their destinies.

Michael and Ricki are true mystics whose programs have evolved into a showcase of leaders from far and wide, including Dr. Joe Dispenza, Eben Alexandar, Brian Weiss, Oprah Winfrey, Eckhart Tolle, Marianne Williamson and many, many others. It was during a live streaming broadcast that I got the inspiration to write Blood Dilemma. Following my intuition’s lead through many long days on my laptop, I got from inspiration to manifestation in the here and now.
